Donal Doyle – Estimating Director

Donal began his career in the Construction Industry in 1980, working as a junior Quantity Surveyor. In 1985 he began working with Kevin Moore Ltd in Kilkenny, where he was responsible for managing a small builders head office, duties included estimating, quantity surveying, accounts payroll, purchasing, general administration etc. This experience was invaluable in perfecting skills in the overall management of a Construction Company. In order to specialise in Quantity Surveying, Donal joined McInerney Construction in the UK in 1987.

He joined PJ Walls in Dublin in 1989 as a project Quantity Surveyor and worked on large scale construction projects. He augmented his experience, working with extremely difficult financial constraints at a time of recession in the industry.

In 1996 Donal joined MDY Construction Ltd as the sole Estimator/Quantity Surveyor. Since joining the company his role has evolved into that of Commercial Director. He introduced and developed new systems and procedures throughout the company and particularly in the Surveying & Estimating Departments.

Donal’s experience coupled with his management of Quantity Surveyors and support staff has strengthened the financial standing of the company and its ability to execute projects successfully.

Tom Dunne – Managing Director

Tom started his professional life with a twelve month period working with a Main Contractor in the UK who specialised in Design and Build of Social Housing Schemes.

On his return from the UK he completed a short term contract placement with BAM on a large mixed development in South Dublin before joining MDY in October 1999 as a Junior Surveyor. Tom has progressed through the ranks in MDY and was made a Senior Quantity Surveyor in 2007, Director in 2010 & Managing Director in 2017. Tom has been with MDY Construction eighteen years and in that period has completed a large volume of diverse projects.

He has successfully completed projects in both public and private sectors, including: education facilities at all levels; commercial and industrial buildings; civil infrastructure; food production facilities; heritage works and restoration; sports and leisure facilities; healthcare; public buildings; including Design and Build projects and large scale housing developments both Public & Private.

Sean Cummins – Construction Director

Sean started his professional life teaching Construction Studies and Technical Drawing before joining the Industry in the mid-1990’s. Since that time he has amassed a wide range of experience in all aspects of the industry having worked as foreman, site manager, project manager, contracts manager, and construction director.  He has, in a senior management capacity, successfully managed and delivered projects in both public and private sectors, including: commercial and industrial buildings, residential developments, public buildings, civil infrastructure, food production facilities, sports and leisure facilities, healthcare and waste management facilities. He has successfully completed both employer designed and design and build projects.

In recent years he was responsible for developing the company’s  pre-qualification documentation and procedures and has also taken an active role in the achievement, management and on-going development of the Company’s IS0 9001 and Safe T Cert accredited systems. He currently oversees the qualitative element of tender submissions, liaising closely with the estimating department on programme, build methodology and resource issues when finalising the submissions. He is proficient in relevant IT systems and has worked with most forms of building contract.
