Lumville Stud in Edenderry is to be developed for Derrinstown ......
Work commenced today on the development of Lumville Stud in Edenderry.
Derrinstown Stud has entered into a contract with MDY Construction for the works which consist of the development of an existing farm into a stud to serve as an overflow facility to the main Derrinstown Stud. There are two yards some distance apart, each of which will have a staff accommodation house. The existing farmhouse is also to be thoroughly refurbished. A cattle crush, slurry tanks, 3 American-style stable barns, machine shed, and various associated structures are to be built. Some parts of the existing sheds and barns are being retained for incorporation into the works which will include masonry walling facades in salvaged limestone. The extensive site development works include drainage, Puraflo effluent treatment units, concrete yards, and tarmac roads.
Denis Lahart as Contracts Manager will lead the MDY team and take responsibility for all aspects of the works. His team includes Paul Farrell as Site Manager, Garret Fitzsimons as Quantity Surveyor, and William Gibson as Site Engineer. The architect and engineer for the project are, respectively, Michael Collins & Associates and PH McCarthy Consulting Engineers.
The works are scheduled to be completed in April 2009.
This is the second such development undertaken by MDY in the last few years, Huma Park Stud (now Iona Stud) in Maynooth having been successfully completed in 2004.
