Respond! issue contract documents to MDY for Tallaght project....

Earlier today Respond! Housing Association issued contract documents to MDY Construction for the project at Cookstown Way in Tallaght.  It is intended that the formal signing will take place on Monday 7th January 2008 and that work will commence on site in the first week in February. The contract period is thirty months.

The project consists of 161 units in eight buildings comprising 5 multi-storey apartment blocks, independent living/communal services block, one créche/community building and one independent living/St. John of Gods Menni Services block. 

Pat Cosgrove, Managing Director of MDY Construction, expressed his delight at receiving the go-ahead for the project. "This is the third housing project undertaken for Respond since 2005.  Easton in Leixlip was handed over on schedule in 2006 and Ladyswell Mulhuddart is on target for completion of the 272 units four to five months ahead of schedule.  MDY will do all in its power to ensure that this project runs as smoothly as the others"

Mel O'Reilly, Construction Director will head up the MDY project team, the principal members of which are Sean Cummins (Contracts Manager), Tom Dunne (Senior QS), John Maher(Site Manager).  Shane Hartley (Project QS), and Gavin McDermott (Foreman).

The first period on site will be devoted to the diversion of the utility services - ESB 38KV and 10KV, Eircom fibre optics, NTL cables, and watermains.  It will not be possible to progress the construction of the buildings in any significant way until the ESB cables in particular have been diverted.
